About Me

My name is Kara Boucher and I am a Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. I live in Castle Rock, Colorado with my husband Todd.

Mary Kay has always been part of my life, ever since the day I was taken home from the hospital in a Pink Cadillac. I always respected and admired Mary Kay because of the lifestyle that it afforded us, but I never thought I would be a good Consultant because of my acne-prone skin and introverted nature. Honestly, who wants a Consultant who has bad skin? I didn’t think it would be something that I would be part of, other than cheering my Mom on and being so grateful for the comfortable lifestyle it gave me.

I went to college at Brigham Young University and also served a mission in Toronto, Canada. During this time, my acne cleared and my confidence grew. I still didn’t think that I could live up to my Mom’s successes, so I decided that teaching would be a good career for me. I taught in a low-income, inner city school for three years in Indianapolis and I really learned how to stick up for myself. I also learned that the education field isn’t as great as you would think it would be. While teaching with a program called Teach for America, I also earned my masters degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University. I met my husband in Indianapolis and a year and a half later, moved home to Colorado. I started teaching at a school in Colorado Springs and quickly realized that no matter how good of a teacher you are, there are a lot of difficulties teachers face that they shouldn’t have to deal with. I decided I wasn’t going to continue a job where I was growing more anxious with each day, so I went to my Mom and told her that I wanted to be a Consultant.

I started my Mary Kay business because I wanted to control my own life. I wanted to be able to create my own healthy, positive work environment, and help others do the same. I wanted a career where I can support my family, but not have to go back to a 8-5 job after maternity leave runs out. I’m looking forward to a career that has no limits on what is possible and to a career that provides a positive environment for me, my family, and my team members.
